Hoping for a Hollywood smile? Dental veneers may be the answer! Veneers provide a long-lasting solution for nearly all of your smile woes.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Veneers are thin shells custom-made to fit over each individual tooth that needs correcting. They are often made of porcelain or composite resin and look completely natural. Dental veneers are used to fix worn-down, cracked, chipped, discolored, decaying, misaligned, uneven, or spaced apart teeth. If you’re looking to improve your smile, make an appointment with us. We can help you determine if you are a good candidate for veneers.

How Are Dental Veneers Placed On Your Teeth?

At Rock Ridge Family Dentistry, Dr. Louk will remove a small amount of the tooth’s surface so he is able to place the veneer over the affected tooth. Then he’ll take an impression of your tooth and create the veneer to match the shape and color of your existing teeth. This helps ensure that your smile will feel and look natural. After creating the veneer, Dr. Louk will bond it to your tooth with resin cement.

How Long Do Dental Veneers Last?

While veneers are not a permanent fix, they should last between 10 and 15 years with proper care. Veneers can chip and crack just like natural teeth, so it’s important that you treat them with the same care and attention you treat your natural teeth.

How Do You Care For Your Dental Veneers?

  • Practice good oral hygiene: The most effective way to care to care for your teeth is, of course, good dental hygiene. Brush your teeth twice a day, floss, and rinse to keep your veneers clean and free of cavity-causing bacteria and food particles.
  • Wear a mouthguard: If you’re an active person, be sure to wear a mouthguard while you’re playing a contact sport.
  • Diet: Stay away from any foods that could chip your veneers like hard candies. You should also limit your intake of coffee and other drinks and foods that could stain your veneers.
  • Wear a nighttime mouthguard: If you have a habit of grinding your teeth, you’ll want to protect your veneers by wearing a mouthguard at night.
